The American Airlines Pilots Association has agreed to carry out a comprehensive strike, in conjunction with the summer travel season, which will cause a major paralysis in passenger traffic.

A report issued by the newspaper “NTD” on Monday, said, “The Allied Pilots Association, which represents 15,000 American Airlines pilots, confirmed that its members voted overwhelmingly to strike,” without specifying the date of the strike.

“With over 99 percent of participating pilots voting in favor of authorizing a strike, the determination of our pilots is unmistakable,” said the association’s president, Capt. Ed Sicher. “We will not back down from our goal of striking new contracts in the industry.”

The association stated in a statement that “the members will conduct a media sit-in at all 10 major axes of the airline, including Los Angeles, Chicago O’Hare International Airports and Boston Logan in New York.

The strike authorization puts additional pressure on American Airlines to agree to the pilots’ demands for higher salaries and better working conditions.

It is noteworthy that the US economy is witnessing a frightening decline as a result of the rise in fuel prices and the depletion of the US budget and taxpayer money to provide military aid to the ongoing proxy war between Russia and Ukraine.
