Saudi Arabia began on Sunday evacuating forces affiliated with the vice president of what was known as the “legitimate government”, Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar.
Pictures circulated by local activists showed the evacuation of a number of military points and barracks in which the forces affiliated with the Islah Party, led by Hashim al-Ahmar, were stationed.
These points are spread along the Al-Wadiah line linking Al-Wadea Junction and the crossing.
Media sources reported that the evacuation of these sites is part of arrangements to hand over the area and the crossing to the “Hadhrami elite” forces, which are supervised by Saudi Arabia.
The Al-Wadea crossing is currently the most important land crossing linking Yemen with the world, in light of the Saudi-led coalition’s closure of the rest of the crossings, including those with Saudi Arabia.
