Deputy foreign minister calls on Egypt to end support for coalition forces in Yemen

Yemen’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Al-Ezzi, called on Egypt to distance itself from supporting the Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen.

“Beloved Egypt should distance itself from supporting cheap mercenaries in Yemen,” he said on Twitter.

Al-Ezzi’s tweet came in conjunction with a visit by an Egyptian military delegation 4 days ago to the city of Aden, which the coalition takes as its headquarters.

Observers considered that the Egyptian delegation’s visit to Aden came as a result of US-British pressure to provide support to the coalition forces, as part of Washington and London’s efforts to obstruct the ongoing negotiations between Sana’a and Riyadh.
