Islah Party sends reinforcements to Hadhramaut region as internal conflict continues

The Islah Party sent on Sunday large military reinforcements to the oil-rich province of Hadhramaut, eastern Yemen.

This coincides with the Saudi-led coalition’s arrangements to declare the province an independent region amid expectations of a military confrontation.

According to southern media, a military convoy comprising many patrols and vehicles of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) moved from the city of Ma’rib via Al-Khasha’a Road on its way to Hadhramaut Valley.

Earlier, the Islah party mobilized its armed factions in Marib and Jawf provinces, known as the “Popular Resistance,” under the name “Restoring Unity,” referring to its arrangement for a battle against the STC.

The step also coincides with arrangements in Riyadh to announce the outcomes of the agreement of the “Hadhrami forces” that participated in the past days negotiations, which the Islah party participated in and included the declaration of Hadhramaut as an independent region.
