The Milky Way Photographer of the Year 2023 award was won with a picture of the Yemeni island of Socotra Archipelago.

Late last week, “Capture the Atlas” announced the winners of the Milky Way Photographer Competition for the sixth year, who captured the most beautiful scenes around the world in the night sky, of various places ranging from the remote deserts of Socotra, Madagascar, Atacama, and Namibia to the remote landscapes of Patagonia, Australia, and New Zealand.

The prize was won by an American photographer of Lebanese origin, “Benjamin Barakat,” as part of the Milky Way Photographer of the Year awards for his photo that he took of the Milky Way behind one of the rare trees of the Socotra archipelago, “The bottle tree portal” .

Photographer Barakat commented on his photo, “The bottle tree portal.” saying, “I took this photo during my annual photographic trip to Socotra.”
