The UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions kidnapped on Tuesday a tribal sheikh in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, which has been under Saudi-led coalition control since the second half of 2015.
According to local sources, Sheikh Salah Muhammad al-Hatemi was kidnapped by three gunmen in a Tucson car while he was in front of his house in Enmaa city in Al-Buriqa area and taken to an unknown destination.
The kidnapping of al-Hatemi came against the backdrop of an attempt by leaders of the STC factions to impose their control over lands in the Ras Omran housing scheme, which has been suspended for the past few years.
The Ras Omran area and other areas in Aden witnessed widespread looting and seizing of state lands and citizens alike by the STC faction leaders during the past seven years.
