Armed clashes erupted on Saturday between Abidah tribes and the coalition forces in the city of Ma’rib, northeastern Yemen.
Tribal sources in Ma’rib province told the Yemeni Press Agency that violent clashes broke out between tribesmen of the Al-Damashiqah tribe, one of the clans of the Abidah tribes, and the recruits of the Sixth Military Region loyal to the coalition in the north of the city.
The sources indicated that the tribes launched an armed attack on a military post belonging to the pro-coalition forces between Al-Kanaes and Al-Samadah.
According to the sources, the tribes’ attack came in response to the killing of the citizen Tawfiq Saleh Abdullah Qureh by the pro-coalition recruits, after he refused to pay the arbitrary levies imposed at the military checkpoint under the name of improvement.
