The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s supporters on Sunday threw stones and shoes at the Hadhramaut governor loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, in Mukalla, the center of the governorate.

A video footage circulated by activists on social media showed Governor Bin Madi being attacked with stones and shoes as he climbed to the stage of the town’s Season Festival in the city of Mukalla, causing the event to fail.

Pro-STC activists attributed the attack on Bin Madi to his bias towards Saudi Arabia in the formation of the Hadhramaut National Council, which was announced at the end of June by political and social figures from the tribes of the Valley Districts.

They stressed that bin Madi is no longer desirable to be in Mukalla, which is under the control of the UAE-funded “Hadrami Elite” factions.
