Yemen’s northeastern province of Ma’rib has been living in complete darkness since dawn Sunday due to a gas-powered station out of service, causing complete power cuts in the province and its districts.
A source at the Ma’rib Electricity Corporation reported that a technical team is working to fix a defect in the gas-powered station caused by a turbine stopping.
The Ma’rib gas-operated plant is experiencing technical malfunctions as Aggreko Energy Company stopped providing electric energy to Ma’rib late last year. This issue stems from the Saudi-led coalition and Islah Party authorities’ delay in paying owed amounts to the company.
