Military equipment stripped for parts and sold as scrap in Lahj province

Leaked images from the Al-Anad axis in Lahj province show soldiers stripping and selling military equipment worth billions of riyals.

According to local sources, the operation involved stripping tanks, military vehicles and weapons bases of great importance. The sources wondered why they were looted and sold for scraps.

The commander of the fourth military region, loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, acknowledged the sales at al-Anad military base, noting that the tender was awarded to Abdul Rahman al-Darwish’s company.

He stressed that the sale process usually took place after the formation of an official committee headed by Ali Mohammed Al-Maslimi, and with the knowledge of the pro-coalition defense Minister, the commander of the fourth region, and the higher competent authorities.

The public auction took place between a number of companies and the profits were awarded to Abdul Rahman Al-Darwish, at a value of 400 thousand riyals per ton, after the withdrawal of other competitors.

According to the commander of the fourth military region, the sale process is sound and in accordance with official legal procedures.
