Taxes on Qat create internal feud between STC factions

Armed clashes erupted on Sunday between factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) due to disputes over “Qat” taxes in a market in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.

Local sources said that the clashes took place inside a Qat selling market in Enmaa neighborhood following disputes over the collection of taxes.

These clashes come in light of the authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition doubling the taxes on merchants, shops, and markets inside the city.
