At least one STC soldier killed in presumed Al-Qaeda attack

At least one member of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) faction was killed and 10 others were injured in an attack in Abyan province in southern Yemen on Monday.

Informed local sources reported that unidentified gunmen, believed to be members of al-Qaeda, attacked a vehicle belonging to the STC factions with an explosive device, as a result of which one of the STC elements was killed and 10 others were wounded, east of Mudiyah district.

The sources added that ambulances rushed to the site of the explosion to transfer the wounded to Lawdar Hospital, among them being critically wounded cases.

The attack comes after a military campaign conducted by the STC’s factions on Sunday in Mudiyah to pursue and track down what it called “terrorist elements”, one year after the launch of Operation “Siham Al-Sharq” in mid-August of last year, 2022.
