The family of detainee Yusra Shater, along with employees of the Higher Institute of Health Sciences have protested on Wednesday in front of the office of the World Health Organisation in Sana’a.
The protesters demanded the speedy release of Shater, who was detained in Ma’rib by Saudi mercenaries while she was working on a vaccination campaign against the corona virus.
The protesters called for the prosecution of those who violated international covenants that provide for the protection of health workers.
They appealed to human rights organisations, the United Nations, the Red Cross and the World Health Organisation to take all necessary measures to release Shater.
Yusra Muhammad Hassan Shater, was born in 1985 in Hamedan District, Sana’a Governorate. She works at the Higher Institute of Health Sciences. She has been held in Ma’rib prison since September 2022.
Yusra Shater is not the only example of the ugliness of the tools of aggression. The crimes of mercenaries affected others, including Samira Marsh, Nazihah Al-Junaid, the Egyptian Sahar Rajab, and many others whose fate is unknown and whose human rights have not been respected.
