Beijing said on Sunday it would seek to make more efforts to achieve a breakthrough in the “peace process” in Yemen.
“The Chinese side is preparing to continue coordination and cooperation with all parties to push for a breakthrough in the peace process in Yemen,” the Chinese embassy affirmed on Twitter.
Observers believe that Beijing’s step to start leading a new mediation needs to obtain a green light by the conflicting parties. The timing of the announcement comes as the Omani mediation shows signs of failure. China’s overture may be an attempt to prevent an escalation into a military situation.
