Southern Yemeni separatist politician accuses Riyadh of supporting Al-Qaeda and ISIS

A politician in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) accused on Wednesday Saudi Arabia of supporting al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist organizations to target the STC’s armed factions.

Abdullah Mubarak Al-Ghaithi, the southern politician and academic who resides in the UAE, said on Twitter that “The STC is targeted by the big sister (Saudi Arabia) and will use Muslim Brotherhoods and their affiliates from al-Qaeda, ISIS and other tools from the south.”

He added, “Saudi Arabia is seeking to trim the STC’s nails and prevent it from controlling the areas of Saudi influence in southern Yemen that the head of the so-called Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, visited, affirming that services in Aden are worse than Hadhramaut and Mahrah provinces.”
