Aden's power plant collapses as heat wave and fuel scarcity squeeze citizens

The major power plant in the port city of Aden, which is held by the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen, collapsed unexpectedly on Wednesday, cutting out power to most of the city’s districts.

According to local sources, the city’s main power plant, “PetroMasila,” which feeds energy production systems with hundreds of megawatts, abruptly collapsed without explanation.

The sources confirmed that a number of professionals are working on restoring the power system amid a crisis of high temperatures and a scarcity of fuel.
