February 16 Movement threatens escalation amid STC's violent crackdown in Aden

Revolutionaries of February 16 have threatened further escalation against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in a response to storming of Sahat Shuhada Al-Mansoura (Al-Mansoura Martyrs Square) in Aden.

The political bureau of the February 16 movement said in a statement that the “Storming of Al-Mansoura Square by the STC’s militia will not go unnoticed. Al-Mansoura Square is the starting point of all movements that come out against injustice.”

The statement held Waddah Al-Huraibi responsible for everything that happens and all that will happen from the bloodshed as a result of the ongoing clashes in Al-Mansoura.

The February 16 Movement also held the STC responsible for the safety of the movement’s leader, Walid al-Idrissi, and anything that might happen to him.

The clashes are still ongoing in the early hours of Sunday morning in Al-Mansoura, after masked elements affiliated with the STC stormed the square and fired various light and medium arms at the demonstrators. Multiple people were injured and the leader of the February 16 movement, Walid Al-Idrissi. was arrested. He was taken to an unknown destination.
