An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on Monday at a military checkpoint of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions at the entrance to the city of Laudar in Abyan province, in southern Yemen.
Local sources in the city reported that the explosive device exploded near the “electricity” point of the “Security Belt” factions without recording any human or material losses.
The sources stated that the explosion was followed by heavy gunfire, suggesting that the checkpoint was subject to an armed attack by terrorist elements.
The same checkpoint was subjected to a number of attacks by terrorists using explosive devices at the end of October last year.
