In latest bid of taking over Aden, UAE separates telecommunications from Yemeni network

An Emirati team has on Saturday begun the process of separating Aden’s telecommunications network from the line based in Sana’a.

Southern media reported, quoting sources in the government-run Aden Net Company, that a technical team affiliated with the Emirati company NX had arrived in the city, indicating that it was preparing to start the process of finally separating Aden’s communications from Sana’a.

The sources confirmed that the team has a plan to link Aden’s communications directly with the UAE.

The sources revealed that the team will currently work as a contractor with Aden Net, whose decision of the coalition government to sell it to the UAE sparked disputes in the authority loyal to the coalition, considering the team’s status as temporary until the acquisition of the telecommunications sector is completed.

By taking over the communications sector, the UAE is actively seeking to transform Aden into a private fiefdom of Abu Dhabi. It aims at controlling the security system inside the city through a special operations room run by Emirati intelligence officers.
