Southern Yemeni separatist movement accuses Saudi Arabia of fomenting terrorism

The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), on Wednesday, stepped up its attack on Saudi Arabia, accusing Riyadh of supporting terrorism and imposing its policies and agendas on southern powers by force.

“Saudi journalists and official newspapers in the Kingdom have appointed themselves as agents of the south, pointing out that Riyadh seeks to determine the fate of the people of the south as it wants, just according to its interests,” Brigadier General Khaled al-Nassi, a military analyst affiliated with the STC said in a post on his X account.

In remarks, al-Nassi pointed out that Saudi Arabia has appointed a group of terrorists in the new Hadramout Council, which it established as an alternative to the authority of the STC in the province.

The new STC’s attack comes amid fluctuating relations between the STC and Saudi Arabia as the latter seeks to abolish the UAE’s influence in Yemen’s southern and eastern governorates.
