For the first time since start of the war, Yemeni diplomatic delegation to head directly to Riyadh

For the first time since the start of the Yemeni war, a Yemeni national negotiating delegation to head for the Saudi capital, Riyadh, accompanied by the Omani delegation, to complete peace negotiations on payment of salaries to the state’s employees, the full opening of airports and seaports, and the release of all prisoners, a leading Ansarullah member said in a post on his X account on Thursday.

Ali Al-Qahoum added, “the Omani mediator delegation and the national delegation will leave Sana’a today on an Omani plane to Saudi Arabia to continue previous meetings.”

“We still have optimism that the Omani mediation and efforts will success in achieving peace in Yemen,” he said.

He explained that the negotiations will focus on the priorities of humanitarian files, especially payment of salaries, opening of airports and seaports, and release of all prisoners.

Al-Qahoum added, “The delegation will also discuss the exit of foreign forces and reconstruction to reach a comprehensive political solution.”

Eariler in the day, the Omani delegation arrived in Sana’a on its way to the Saudi capital accompanied by the Yemeni national delegation.

The Omani move came after the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Muscat in an attempt to move ahead with the Yemeni file, in light of the signs of escalation and warnings by Sana’a that it would not remain silent for a long time.
