The Foreign Minister, Hisham Sharaf, discussed on Sunday with the Acting Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR), Safir Al-Din Sayed, the activities of the Office of the High Commissioner in Sanaa.
Sharaf pointed out that the Yemeni people are still suffering from the repercussions of the aggression and comprehensive blockade, which violate all their rights recognized by the International Covenants on Human Rights and other international agreements and treaties, including the right to life, the right to development, the right to travel, and others.
The Foreign Minister called for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as the Human Rights Council, to form an independent international investigation committee into the crimes and violations of the Saudi-led aggression coalition countries since March 26, 2015.
He also called on the UNHCR office to intensify technical and financial support for the Yemeni authorities.
For his part, the Acting Resident Representative of UNHCR affirmed the commitment of the High Commissioner to protect and report human rights in Yemen.
