Prominent southern Yemeni political leader moves to Sana’a after 22 years in exile abroad

A prominent southern Yemeni academic and politician arrived on Wednesday in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a after spending the last 22 years outside of Yemen.

Official spokesman for the Southern Revolutionary Movement, Dr. Mohammad al-Numani, said in his post onthe X platform: “I returned to Sana’a after 22 years of displacement due to my nationalist positions since the 1994 summer war.”

He continued, saying, “Hopes and aspirations are still pinned on the Sana’a government and Ansarullah to rid Yemen of foreign tutelage, to protect its national sovereignty, and to liberate the southern provinces from the Emirati-Saudi occupier.”

Al-Numani pointed out that “Sana’a today is the gateway to peace, security, stability, development in the region,” stressing that the government is capable of protecting national sovereignty and stopping the plunder of Yemeni wealth.
