Tribal gunmen have obstructed oil and gas tankers from accessing the Safer oil facility, held by coalition factions east of Ma’rib city, for the fifth consecutive day.
Local sources revealed that the al-Damashaqa tribes of Wadi Abaida have blocked the Safer road, preventing tankers from both entering and exiting the facility, subsequently halting the filling process.
These sources noted the heightened tensions arose from prior demands that the Safer Company failed to address.
They further stated that the hundreds of tankers queued on both sides of the Safer Road could signal an impending severe domestic gas crisis in Aden city and other southern provinces.
This disruption follows a mortar shell attack on the Safer facility in mid-September, which resulted in a fire at the gas pipeline complex near the Asaad Al-Kamil oil field within the facility.
