The Yemeni air defenses shot down a US unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) while it was carrying out hostile and surveillance activities in the airspace of Yemen’s territorial waters.
“Our air defenses were able to shoot down an American MQ9 aircraft while it was carrying out hostile and surveillance activities in the airspace of Yemen’s territorial waters and within the framework of American military support for the “Israeli” entity,” the Yemeni armed forces said in a statement on Wednesday.
The aircraft was downed using appropriate weapons, the statement read.
According to the statement, The Yemeni armed forces affirm their legitimate right to defend the country and confront all hostile threats.
The Yemeni armed forces concluded the statement by saying that “hostile actions will not deter the Yemeni armed forces from continuing to carry out military operations against the “Israeli” entity in support of the oppressed Palestinian people”.
