Yemeni President Mahdi Al-Mashat conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the State of Kuwait.
Expressing deep sorrow, President Mashat remarked, “We received with profound sadness the news of the demise of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, after a career full of giving.”
He offered sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Al-Sabah family and the fraternal Kuwaiti people during this mournful moment, praying for enduring security, stability, and prosperity for the State of Kuwait.
Sheikh Nawaf passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday.
In late November, Sheikh Nawaf was hospitalized due to an undisclosed illness. Since then, the small yet oil-rich Persian Gulf nation had been anxiously awaiting updates on his health.
According to reports from the state-run news agency KUNA, he had traveled to the United States for unspecified medical examinations in March 2021.
Sheikh Nawaf ascended to Kuwait’s throne on September 29, 2020, reigning until his passing on December 16, 2023. He succeeded to the throne after the death of his half-brother, Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
