Prisoner escape in occupied province leads to mutual accusations among authorities

At least nine prisoners detained on charges related to terrorist acts escaped on Tuesday from Ataq Central Prison in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen, local sources said.

According to the sources, the prisoners who had escaped were from Al- Said District, which is one of the most prominent centers of the conflict between factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition and pro-UAE factions, Islah factions, and al-Qaeda.

The sources pointed out that the leaders of the local authority in Shabwah exchanged accusations about what is believed to be a planned operation behind the prisoners’ escape.

The escape of the nine prisoners comes days after units from the pro-Saudi, Deir al-Watan forces were sent to Shabwah province.

It should be noted that in the coalition-held areas, especially Hadhramaut governorate, several takfiris were smuggled out from a prison under the control of pro-coalition authorities in southern and eastern Yemen.
