Yemeni Prime Minister: United States is expected to undermine UN work

Yemen’s Caretaker Prime Minister Abdulaziz bin Habtoor stated on Saturday that the United States will either fail to pass resolutions in the Security Council or undermine their fundamental value.

Bin Habtoor’s remarks came as a response to the US vetoing a Russian amendment to a draft resolution in the Security Council on Friday. The amendment aimed to cease Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Bin Habtoor underscored the necessity for a new global governance system that exceeds the frameworks established post-World War II.

He pointed out that the US has shifted focus from deliberating on the fairness of Yemen’s stance regarding Gaza to analyzing its financial implications. He further expressed a preference for direct confrontation with the US instead of engaging through intermediaries.

Bin Habtoor commended the Malaysian government for preventing Zionism from entering its ports, noting that it demonstrated a stronger stance than some Arab countries that participated in the aggression against Gaza alongside Israel.

He also drew attention to the correlation between the World Food Program’s decision to withhold aid from beneficiaries and Yemen’s political and military support for Gaza.

Bin Habtoor urged a reconsideration of this decision, emphasizing the importance of avoiding the politicization of aid aligned with inhumane American agendas.
