Tribal gunmen on Tuesday closed the main road to fuel and goods tankers in Al-Khasha’a area Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen, for the third day in a row on Tuesday, demanding that fuel prices be reduced.
According to informed sources in the province, armed tribesmen refused to allow tankers loaded with fuel and goods, including local products, to pass through the western entrance to Hadhramaut in the Al-Khasha’a area, preventing them from leaving the province until the gasoline price is reduced to 3,500 riyals, as it is in Ma’rib city, rather than 25,000 riyals.
The oil-rich Hadhramaut is the third province to hold protests demanding that the government reduce oil derivative prices, following Shabwah and Abyan, which held demonstrations and sit-ins demanding that the gasoline selling price in Ma’rib be unified in their areas without discrimination.
