Belgian Foreign Minister Hajja Lahbib called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, warning against the Israeli army’s movements in Rafah.
This came one day after Lahbib summoned the Israeli ambassador to Belgium after raids destroyed the offices of the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) in the Gaza Strip, stressing that targeting civilian buildings is unacceptable.
Earlier today, Lahbib (of Algerian origin) called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the immediate arrival of aid, and the release of prisoners. She added, “A political dialogue must be launched in order to reach a two-state solution.”
The Belgian Foreign Minister warned of the possibility of an escalation of the situation in the region.
