Syrian television reported early Saturday that several individuals were killed and many others injured due to attacks carried out by US aircraft on several sites on Syrian-Iraqi border.
According to News agencies, sounds of explosions were heard in Deir Ezzor and its countryside as electricity went blackout after the aggression that targeted many sites in Bou Kamal, Mayadeen and the surroundings along the Syrian-Iraqi borders.
Meanwhile, Iraqi media said that the American aggression targeted cities of al-Qaim and Akashat near the borders with Syria.
In the same context, US Central Command confirmed in a statement that airstrikes were carried out in Iraq and Syria.
“US military forces struck more than 85 targets, with numerous aircraft including long-range bombers flown from the United States. The airstrikes employed more than 125 precision munitions,” the statement said.
President Joe Biden stated that the US strikes launched on Friday in Iraq and Syria, in retaliation to a drone attack on a US base in Jorden, which resulted in the killing of three American soldiers.
Biden said in a statement that the US military response “will continue at times and places of our choosing.”
“The United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. But let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: If you harm an American, we will respond,” Biden said.
