Around 8,000 evacuated from southern Gaza hospital

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) confirmed on Tuesday that about 8,000 people were evacuated from the besieged Al-Amal Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip.

The IFRC said that “about 300 people, including the elderly, are still stranded inside Al-Amal Hospital.”

The spokesman for the IFRC, Tommaso della Longa, confirmed during a press conference in Geneva that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is “more than catastrophic.”

He pointed out that about a hundred elderly people and people with disabilities were unable to leave Al-Amal Hospital, in addition to 80 patients and 100 employees and volunteers who are still inside it.
