Activists beaten and arrested in Shabwah province over water crisis

Security forces arrested a number of young people on Wednesday evening while they were protesting in front of the house of the Shabwah governor, in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, in the city of Ataq, demanding a solution to the water crisis.

According to local media reports, security forces attacked the protesters with batons and rifle butts, resulting in some injuries.

It was also reported that five other protesters were arrested and taken to a prison in the city.

Activists condemned the repressive measures taken by the governor towards the demands of the citizens, emphasizing that it was incumbent upon him to listen to them, address their issues, and provide services to them.
