Hamas Political Bureau reaffirms possibility of accepting ceasefire agreement

Head of Hamas’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, has affirmed that there is an opportunity to reach a multistage ceasefire agreement over Gaza if the Israeli occupation government leaves its intransigent position.

In a brief statement on Wednesday, Haniyeh said that his movement relies on the steadfastness and creativeness of the Palestinian resistance on the battlefield to help achieve a ceasefire and an end to the Israeli aggression against the people of Gaza.

“The position of US president Joe Biden [over Gaza] in his speeches keeps changing, but it is being tested on the ground,” Haniyeh, said.

The Hamas leader stressed the need for the US administration to take action to stop Israel’s genocidal war and starvation campaign in Gaza.

He also said that the Palestinians in the West Bank are being targeted with Israeli suppression and aggression in order to distract them from supporting Gaza, expressing his belief that the Israeli campaign in the West Bank would be doomed to fail.
