Yemen carries out first successful test of hypersonic missile

Yemen’s Armed Forces have successfully tested a hypersonic missile, and intends to use such missiles against Israel and at targets at sea, a Yemeni military well-informed source was cited as saying by Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

“The Yemeni missile forces have successfully tested a missile that is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 8 (ten thousand kilometres per hour)”, the military source explained.

The source also added that the Yemeni Armed Forces in northern Yemen have upgraded their missiles and drones, modifying explosive warheads to double their destructive power, after carrying out a series of tests that lasted three months.

Last Thursday, the leader of the Yemeni Revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik al-Houthi announced that the Armed Forces continue to develop their military capabilities, and that everyone will see “the level of achievements of strategic importance that put the country in its capabilities among the ranks of only a limited number of countries in this world.”

The Yemeni military itself has not yet issued an official statement on the subject.
