A leader affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions was injured on Wednesday, in an explosion of a landmine in the province of Abyan, southern Yemen.
Pro-STC Media sources reported that the chief of staff of the so-called “Second Battalion in the Sixth Support Brigade,” Mahmoud Braber, was seriously injured in an explosion of a landmine he attempted to dismantle in Wadi Omran in the district of Mudiyah east of the city of Zinjibar, the provincial capital.
According to the sources, Braber fired at the landmine to detonate it and neutralize its effect, but unidentified individuals remotely executed the detonation of the landmine.
He was then transferred to one of the hospitals in Aden, the sources said.
