A detainee died after being tortured inside a UAE-run prison in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen.
Human rights sources said on Wednesday, Samer Mohsen Baftah, one of detainees in the UAE-backed Shabwah Defense factions jails, died under mysterious circumstances inside the prison of the city of Ataq, the province’s center, for unknown reasons.
The factions reported that Baftah committed suicide inside prison, without knowing the main reasons.
Some sources suggested that the detainee died due to torture by elements loyal to the Emirates.
