EU urges Israel to end Rafah military operation 'immediately'

The European Union (EU) has called on “Israel” to stop its military operation in Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, “immediately,” warning that its continuation would undermine relations between the union and Tel Aviv.

A statement issued by the EU’s foreign policy coordinator, Josep Borrell, on behalf of the bloc said, “If Israel continues its military operation in Rafah, this will inevitably put severe pressure on the EU’s relationship with Israel.”

Last Friday, the Israeli occupation military and mini-ministerial councils for security affairs agreed to expand the Israeli military operation in the city of Rafah.

On Saturday, the Israeli occupation army asked Palestinians in other areas in the city of Rafah to evacuate their places and go to what it calls the expanded humanitarian zone in “Al-Mawasi,” in another indication that “Israel” may move forward with its plans to launch a ground attack on the city.
