Norway has handed over diplomatic papers to the Palestinian prime minister, recognising a Palestinian state .

“Recognition means a lot for us. It is the most important thing that anybody can do for the Palestinian people. It is a great deal for us,” said Mustafa in Brussels on Sunday.

Mustafa is also meeting with EU foreign ministers and high-level EU officials on Monday to rally support for the Palestinians.

Approximately 140 countries recognize the State of Palestine, but the majority of the 27 EU countries have yet to do so.

Many of them have stated that they will recognize Palestine when the conditions are appropriate.
