Yemeni defences shoot down US MQ9 drone

The air defence force of the Yemeni Armed Forces shot down an MQ9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) this morning, while it was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Ma’rib Governorate, Yemen’s military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said in a statement on Wednesday evening.

“The operation was carried out with a locally-made surface-to-air missile, and footages of the operation will be published shortly,” Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e explained.

Sare’e added, “The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that the taking down of the plane came just days after another plane of its type was shot down in the airspace of Bayda Governorate.”

According to Sare’e, it is the sixth UAV that has been shot down so far during the battle of the Promised Conquest and Holy Jihad in support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces continue to develop their defensive capabilities to face the American-British aggression and all hostile forces in trumping for the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip until the aggression is stopped and the siege is lifted,” the brigadier general stressed.
