The capital, Sana’a, witnessed a major mass rally on Tuesday afternoon commemorating the Day of Ashura and the anniversary of Imam Hussain’s martyrdom, under the slogan: “Far from us is disgrace.”
The participants emphasized that the Yemeni people draw strength, determination, and resolve from Ashura, following Imam Hussein’s example in resisting tyranny and global arrogance, particularly from America, Israel, and their allies
.
The crowds reaffirmed their loyalty to Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
They expressed their commitment to the values and principles for which Imam Hussein sacrificed, rejecting humiliation and submission.
They strongly condemned the ongoing massacres and heinous crimes committed by Zionist and American forces against the Palestinian people and criticized the complacency of Arab and Islamic countries towards the suffering and genocide of the Palestinians.
Ashura marks the annual commemoration of the Battle of Karbala, in which Imam Hussain, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, together with most of his family and followers, many of whom were family and early followers of the Prophet Muhammad, were brutally murdered by forces of the Umayyad leader Yazid.
Millions of people gather around the shrine of Imam Hussain in Karbala every year, as well as in many other places in the world, to commemorate Ashura.
