Outgoing Israeli UN ambassador calls for the destruction of the UN

Gilad Erdan, the outgoing Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, has called for the destruction of the UN headquarters in New York.

In an interview published Tuesday by the Israeli daily Maariv, Erdan stated, “The UN building should be closed and wiped off the face of the earth.”

Erdan, who has been a fierce defender of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, did not mince words in his criticism of the UN, describing its headquarters as “twisted and distorted,” despite its outward appearance.

This is not the first time Erdan has lashed out at the United Nations. During his tenure, he frequently criticized UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), accusing them of bias against Israel.

Erdan’s comments come amid ongoing international condemnation of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 40,170 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children.

The UN Security Council has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire, but the genocide continues unabated.
