At least five people were injured on Friday as a result of an explosion that occurred on the sea road linking the Khor Maksar and Al-Mansoura areas in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.
Local sources reported that the explosion resulted from young men tampering with a bomb while they were chewing Qat leaves inside a car owned by the brother of “Commander Staff of the Emergency Forces and Security Support” affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), called “Akram Awad Abdelhabib.”
According to the sources, the young men sustained various injuries, including Abdelhabib’s brother, one of whose hands was amputated as a result of the explosion. They were transported to the hospital to receive treatment.
The sources added that among the victims was the son of STC-affiliated leader Aqeel Paras, the former director of Dar Saad District, and his brother.
The sources indicated that the young men tampered with the bomb as a result of being under the influence of hashish and drugs spreading throughout the city.
