The commander of the Israeli Intelligence Unit “8200,” Yossi Shariel, informed on Thursday Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy of his decision to resign due to the October 7 failure, according to Hebrew media.
Shariel is the second Israeli military intelligence official to announce his resignation from his position in light of the October 7 failure, after the Chief of the Military Intelligence Division, Aharon Halivia, who resigned last April.
According to Israeli news website “Ynet,” Shariel was appointed unit commander in February 2021.
The Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army, Halevy, announced on Thursday that he had set the end of December as a possible date for submitting his resignation, linking the resignation date to the results of the investigation into the October 7 attack and the completion of preparations for war in the north.
