The Government of Change and Construction held an event on Thursday to commemorate the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution in the capital, Sana’a.
During the event, Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Rahwi stated that Yemen’s revolutionaries are fighting in the seas, oceans, and within the enemy’s territory as a victory for the nation and its sacred causes. Al-Rahwi emphasized the importance of drawing lessons from the September Revolution to build a strong, sovereign, and independent Yemen.
In his speech, Supreme Political Council member Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi affirmed that the goals of the September 26 Revolution have been realized by the September 21 Revolution on the ground, achieving sovereignty, independence, dignity, and honor.
Another member of the Supreme Political Council, Abdulaziz Bin Habtoor, stated that Yemen’s revolutionaries are making history by confronting the American-Israeli aggression on Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen. He also criticized those who claim ties to the revolution while aligning with Saudi Arabia, calling them profiteers, agents, and mercenaries.
The September 26 Revolution began in 1962, but has not fulfill its goals untile September 21, 2014, whe the people of Yemen staged a popular uprising against the Saudi-backed unpopular regime of Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Ansarullah took control of the Sana’a-based government on September 21 after widespread protests across the country, followed by Hadi’s escape to Riyadh.
The anniversary of Yemen’s September 26 Revolution Day set the stage for the creation of the modern Republic of Yemen by overthrowing the Saudi-backed rulers of northern Yemen.
