The Israeli occupation army announced on Friday the death of two soldiers and the injury of 25 others, two of whom are in serious condition, following drone attacks on a military base in the Golan Heights, which is Syrian territory that has been occupied by Israel since 1967.

The enemy’s army stated in a statement that two soldiers from the Golani Brigade, Battalion 13, were killed due to the explosion of the drone, which was launched from Iraq.

The statement identified the soldiers as Sgt. Daniel Aviv Haim Sofer, 19, a signals officer cadet in the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, from Ashkelon. And Cpl. Tal Dror, 19, an IT specialist with the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, from Jerusalem.

In a comment, Israeli army radio stated, “For the first time since the beginning of the war, operations by Iraqi groups have succeeded in causing casualties.”

It pointed out that initial investigations showed that the air defence system failed to detect the drone that exploded in northern Golan
