This comes amid calls to recruit thousands of “Hadhramis” to protect the Hadhramaut province, rich in natural resources, which raises questions about the real objectives of these movements.

The move coincided with the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance’s call to recruit thousands of the Hadhramaut people into what it called the “Hadhramaut Protection Forces” last week.

It is likely that the French-American forces are training the extremist Salafist factions called “Dera Al-Watan” loyal to Saudi Arabia, which the latter seeks to deploy them in the Hadhramaut valley districts.
