Over 680 armed militants and 120 armored vehicles entered Mahrah Governorate in a provocative move ahead of a visit by Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
These groups acted in a militia-like manner, crossing red lines by removing the republican flag from the presidential palace and harassing security checkpoints across the governorate.
In response to these developments, Spokesman for the Peaceful Sit-in Committee for the People of Mahrah, Ali Mubarak Bin Mahamad strongly condemned these actions.
He described these actions as a “dangerous escalation that reveals the recklessness and militia mentality of externally supported groups loyal to foreign agendas, not the nation.”
The committee emphasized that these actions aim to destabilize the secure governorate and impose a new reality that contradicts the aspirations of its people.
Mahamad stated that the entry of these forces in a chaotic and militia-like manner is “not a show of strength but an attempt to create chaos and provoke unrest.”
The spokesperson praised the Mahrah Security Committee for quickly intervening to restore the republican flag to its rightful place.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the security and stability of the governorate and rejecting any attempts to impose a new reality.
Mahamad called on all residents of Mahrah to “unite and stand together against these suspicious attempts.”
He emphasized that Mahrah will remain a symbol of security and stability and will reject any attempts to impose agendas by force.
The spokesman ended by stating that “Mahrah is entrusted to its people, and they will not allow any external or internal forces to jeopardize its security and stability.”
