Hadramout Governorate witnessed a horrific collision between two public transport buses carrying expatriates and Umrah pilgrims on Monday.
The accident claimed the lives of eight individuals and left over 40 others injured, with several in critical condition. The number of fatalities could increase as the situation continues to unfold, according local sources.
According to media reports, the collision occurred near the Ma’rib Junction while both buses were traveling along the Ma’rib–Al-Abr–Al-Wadea Road, a route known for its severe deterioration and lack of maintenance over the past decades.
The emergency department at Al-Abr Hospital has been placed on high alert following the arrival of dozens of injured. Critically injured patients have been transferred to other hospitals for urgent medical care.
The Ma’rib–Al-Abr–Al-Wadea Road is considered one of the most dangerous yet vital routes in the country.
Despite its hazards, thousands of travelers and expatriates are forced to use it due to the lack of safer alternatives—a result of ongoing conflict, blockade, and what many describe as deliberate neglect by the mercenary government
