Protests erupted across several continents on Saturday as demonstrators demanded an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, which has killed and wounded over 192,000 Palestinians—most of them women and children—since October 2023.
In Ecuador, dozens gathered outside the Foreign Ministry in Quito in solidarity with Palestinians. Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and held anti-war signs. Some carried red roses wrapped in white burial shrouds, symbolizing the thousands of children killed by Israeli occupation forces.
In France, large crowds marched through the streets of Paris, calling for an end to the genocide and for international accountability. Protesters denounced Israel’s continued violations of international law and demanded that Western nations, particularly France, impose meaningful sanctions on the Israeli government. Many accused Western powers of complicity in the atrocities and failing to uphold their moral and legal responsibilities to protect civilians.
Protesters also called for urgent international action to hold Israeli leaders accountable for genocide and to ensure the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid via United Nations agencies.
In Copenhagen, Denmark, demonstrators demanded a ceasefire in Gaza and the rapid provision of humanitarian assistance. They also called for Israeli accountability for crimes against civilians, especially children.
Similar scenes unfolded in Stockholm, Sweden, where protesters chanted slogans and held signs reading “Stop the massacre in Gaza” while waving Palestinian flags.
In London, United Kingdom, protests took a tense turn. Police arrested more than 20 demonstrators at Parliament Square, where activists gathered to protest the government’s decision to ban the Palestinian Action Group. Protesters held signs reading “I am against genocide, I support the Palestinian Action Group” before security forces moved in.
London police cited heightened security concerns across the city due to multiple public gatherings. The arrests were made under the UK’s 2000 Terrorism Act.
Elsewhere in London, the activist group Youth Demand held a demonstration targeting companies supplying military equipment to the Israeli army. Protesters sprayed red paint on a truck belonging to one such company and were met with a heavy police presence. Several demonstrators waving Palestinian flags were taken into custody.
As global outrage grows, protest movements continue to pressure governments to act decisively to stop the Israeli genocide and uphold international law.
